For over fifty years, Pizza Hut has been one of the leading pizza chain restaurants in the industry and they offer good pizza hut deals. Yet behind their massive success lies small-town roots: Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 by brothers Dan and Frank Carney in Wichita, Kansas, with a starting budget of $600 and borrowed equipment. The business quickly expanded into a nationwide franchise throughout the 1960s. Pizza Hut introduced its signature red mansard roof design and standardized restaurant layout early on. In 1972, with 314 stores and a nationally recognized appearance, Pizza Hut went public on the New York Stock Exchange. The franchise was bought by the Pepsico corporation in 1978. Pizza Hut was the first national pizza chain in the country, and they have been a leader in the industry ever since. Today, there are over 6,000 Pizza Hut restaurants in the United States, and more than 5,600 in other countries.
